Taking advantage of the warm days at the end of September was the Rsa 'Istituto Geriatrico Siciliano' in Palermo: the facility's guests visited the Botanical Garden of the Museum System of the University of Palermo, accompanied by educators.
The seniors were able to stroll through the garden's sections, admiring more than 5,000 species of plants that are cultivated here. Medicinal plants and fruit trees, palm trees and primitive plants are just some of the wonders that the guests were able to observe up close in the garden, as well as the enormous quantity of water lilies in the Aquarium and other plant species in the garden's greenhouses.
"A unique and stimulating educational opportunity, which allowed our guests to see with their own eyes the richness of this oasis within the city of Palermo," said Anna Montalbano and Vincenza De Miceli, heads of the educational service. "Sensory stimulation is what guides us in organising not only the activities carried out within the rest home, but also all those planned in the city, which are always highly appreciated and expected by everyone in the facility.
