Our story
S.O. Holding Spa is the parent company of a group of companies operating mainly in the personal assistance sector, building and managing RSAs, minor communities and psychiatric communities with the highest quality standards.
Founded in 1996 in Udine, Sereni Orizzonti 1 SpA operates not only throughout Italy but also in Spain. Its 91 RSAs accommodate 6,000 guests and employ almost 3,800 people. It grows through M&A activities and through the direct development of RSAs strongly characterised by domotics and at the forefront of eco-sustainability and energy saving.
The main subsidiaries of S.O. Holding are Sereni Orizzonti 1 Spa, 3A Milano, Lifecare and in January 2019 the group was also joined by “Work On Time”, a generalist work agency that operates with it’s own offices in many Italian cities.
Nel 2025, il percorso di crescita della Holding si è tradotto in un fatturato di gruppo prossimo ai 300 milioni di euro, così suddiviso tra le principali società: 224 milioni per Sereni Orizzonti 1 SpA, 53 milioni per Work On Time e 14,3 milioni per Life Care.
1996-2007
Founded in 1996 by Massimo Blasoni and Giorgio Zucchini (who has now left the company), Sereni Orizzonti 1 Spa is one of the subsidiaries of S.O. Holding Spa of Massimo Blasoni. Sereni Orizzonti is a company - as they say - started from nothing, i.e. by first-generation entrepreneurs with no family financial resources, but determined and convinced that the residential care of the non-self-sufficient elderly in our country needed an increased offer and a better quality of care.
Sereni Orizzonti was founded in Udine with the claim 'An alternative to the nursing home', which from the outset was intended to emphasise the objective of proposing residences for the elderly that are more comfortable and offer services similar to those of a hotel.

Within the first three years of activity, we transformed three hotels in the province of Udine into residences for the elderly, operating in a context, the Friulian one, characterised at that time by rest homes that were often outdated.
The great demand from families prompted us to implement the offer by acquiring the lease or ownership of new properties. In 2004 there were already 9 residences for the non-self-sufficient elderly in Friuli Venezia-Giulia.
Between 2002 and 2003, for the first time, we started to participate in concession tenders for the management of RSAs throughout northern Italy, achieving excellent results.
However, the main vocation remained the acquisition of the ownership of the RSAs.
In 2007 we acquired the first residence for the elderly in Piedmont, 'Casa Albert' in Viverone with 140 beds; today in Piedmont alone we manage 20 RSAs.

2008-2026
In the period 2008-2026 we acquired numerous new RSAs throughout Italy, minor communities and psychiatric communities, with a particularly significant presence in Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto, Sardinia and Sicily. Within the RSAs, there are also active units with a high health value or aimed at the physically and mentally disabled.
The Group has achieved a truly national standing, recognized by the press and by all major industry studies, which rank us first in terms of growth in Italy’s social and healthcare sector in 2025, with 7,500 beds available.
With 9 children's communities and 6 psychiatric communities, the Group has also seen its relevance grow in the area of mental health.
Over time, numerous subsidiaries have been founded or acquired that contribute to the Group's development, including Sereni Orizzonti 1 Spa, 3A Milano, Lifecare, Work On Time, Edu, La Panoramica, 4A Milano and Istituto Geriatrico Siciliano Srl.

From 2026 onwards
In 2025, Sereni Orizzonti launched an investment plan of around €200 million to acquire and directly develop new facilities. This plan will bring the Group to manage a total of more than 15,000 beds by 2030.
