Elderly guests of the Multipurpose Centre for the Elderly in Cusano Milanino participate in a project of sensory stimulation basted in a 'Sensory Room' which started in the Multipurpose Centre for the Elderly in Cusano Milanino, managed by Sereni Orizzonti.
"Our clientele is varied, but we often assist guests with communication difficulties, behavioural disorders and cognitive deficits," says Federica Cuscona, director of the facility. "This is why we started the Sensory Room, which stimulates the dormant abilities of our guests, helping them to recover some important sensory functions.
The project involves setting up a room in which one can interact with lights of different types and intensities, music and scents. Thanks to thearomatherapyIt is possible to connect smells and memories. This set of stimuli gives guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in a mental journey during which they tell stories of country life, home fragrances and important events: some remember their wedding day or the cut flowers that graced the family lunch table every Sunday.
