The Istituto Geriatrico Siciliano (Sicilian Geriatric Institute), an assisted-living and long-term care residence for the non-self-sufficient elderly, Alzheimer's patients and the disabled, is the flagship of Sereni Orizzonti in the region of Sicily. Located in a panoramic position, overlooking the Gulf of Palermo on one side and Mount Pellegrino on the other, in a contrast of colours between Capo Zafferano and the crystal blue sea that surrounds it.
Following a recent renovation, the residence is equipped with all comforts and high quality services for the reception and care of guests. The facility, which has been under the direct management of Sereni Orizzonti since February 2016, covers 3,200 square metres concentrated in a single complex with 50 in-patient rooms. Divided over 5 floors, connected by a lift and a bed lift, the residence offers accommodation in rooms with 1 or 2 beds, equipped with air conditioning/independent heating, private bathroom, TV and telephone. There are 94 total beds, of which 54 for the Alzheimer's unit and 40 for the RSA. On the ground floor, large spaces are dedicated to reception and reception, recreational and socialisation activities. In addition, the facility has a bar, hairdresser/barber shop, podiatrist and a gym equipped for physiotherapy and rehabilitation activities. Outside, the large terrace furnished with a gazebo guarantees comfortable and safe use during the spring and summer season.
The institute, which is fully affiliated with the ASP of Palermo and neighbouring provinces, provides assistance for users with physical and neurological problems in the post-acute phase or resulting from chronic degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. It also provides post-trauma functional rehabilitation services.
The medical service present from Monday to Saturday throughout the day, the nursing and care service 24 hours a day 365 days a year, the physiotherapy and animation service, the social workers and the analysis laboratory, connected with the ASP and inside the facility, guarantee the excellent quality of the service provided.
The catering service is also of a high standard. The modern in-house kitchen allows individual menus to be prepared according to guests' dietary requirements.
