The new building is four storeys above ground with a T-shaped floor plan with irregular arms, distributed in 3 separate residential cores equipped with access control to monitor the movements of residents with dementia. The ground floor houses the reception and administrative offices, a visitor's lounge and a lounge for recreational activities, a rehabilitation gymnasium, a medical clinic, changing rooms for staff and a room for personal services (podiatrist and hairdresser). On both the first and second floors, there is a dining room and living room, guest toilets and a 20-bed residential unit divided into 10 double rooms. The attic floor in turn houses a fifth living unit for a further 12 self-sufficient guests accommodated in 6 double rooms.
All rooms are spacious and bright, equipped with their own bathroom for the disabled, comfortably furnished and equipped with motorised beds, blinds with domotic shutters, call system and fire sensors. On each floor there are two assisted bathrooms with shower stretcher or shower chair. The rooms will be equipped with controlled mechanical ventilation (VMC), which allows for a change of clean, dry air without having to open windows but recovering the heat that is expelled from the air. Air conditioning has been designed to offer guests maximum comfort and safety: winter air conditioning will be provided by an underfloor heating system (and therefore without radiators) while summer air conditioning will be provided by an innovative system that will cool the rooms without annoying draughts.
The new structure is joined to the existing one by a connecting body with floor and roof level.
