"POLENTATA' FOR THE ELDERLY AT THE 'GELSOMINO' NURSING HOME IN UDINE: MUSIC AND PARTY WITH VOLUNTEERS

With the arrival of the holidays, the 'Gelsomino' residence for the elderly in Udine, managed by Sereni Orizzonti, offered guests a day of light-heartedness, fun and, above all, 'Friulian warmth'.

"A group of volunteers," says Anna Sonsini, the director of the facility - "Armed with a stove with a fireplace, firewood, a cauldron and a cutting board, they set up everything to make polenta together with our elderly guests. Our aim was to give the guests a peaceful time and remind them of Friulian traditions, which, as we know, are so dear and offer that sense of familiarity and protection that is fundamental, especially at a certain age'.

The day spent in the spirit of Friulian traditions is part of a busy calendar of activities that the residence has been organising for a long time. In December, on the occasion of the Christmas holidays, the guests had lunch together with relatives: something that had not happened since before the outbreak of the pandemic. The following day, the guests attended a performance by the FVG Udine Choir, which awakened memories and emotions in the elderly.

The 'Gelsomino' residence in Udine can accommodate elderly people with varying degrees of self-sufficiency. It is managed by Sereni Orizzonti, one of the first three groups at national level operating in the construction and management of assisted care residences, with about 80 RSAs and more than 5,000 beds in Italy and abroad.
