Christmas is just around the corner for the Sereni Orizzonti residence for the elderly in Matida (Sassari): the residents of the facility have created a nativity scene to be displayed next to the residence's Christmas tree.
Following tradition, the elders, together with the staff, decided to depict the famous sacred scene using the best-known plants of the Sardinian Mediterranean maquis: in addition to straw and moss, cork and myrtle wrap the crib statuettes, making it unique and more Sardinian than the original.
"Christmas-related workshops are much appreciated by our guests. All the activities carried out in the facility, such as Christmas decorations, create beautiful moments of conviviality, managing to combine artistic manual skills and tradition. Guests and staff of the facility have thus entered into the true Christmas spirit," says residence director Paola Elena Borsato.
