MARCON, ELDERLY GUESTS OF THE RSA SERENI ORIZZONTI JOIN THE CARITAS INITIATIVE AND PREPARE HANDICRAFTS FOR THE COLLECTION OF BASIC GOODS

The elderly guests of the RSA 'San Giorgio' in Marcon joined the initiative of Caritas Interparrocchiale di Marcon in preparing shortbread biscuits in the shape of carnival masks, unique pieces, produced and packaged by our cookery workshop to raise funds for the purchase of primary goods.

The guests, made aware of the social importance of the project, dusted off some special recipes, trying to make the desserts they made inviting, special and above all delicious.

"The guests of the facilities are the centre of attention and care of the staff caring for them," says Danjiela Filkovska, the facility's director. "Unlike usual, this activity allowed them to feel useful for someone else. This had a very beneficial effect on the guests: in addition to manual reactivation, there was an interest and care that went beyond mere accomplishment".

It is precisely on the occasion of Carnival that Caritas Interparrocchiale di Marcon has realised this initiative: the preparation of shortbread biscuits in the shape of masks, to be distributed as a snack. The cost of each individual biscuit will be very small, but it will still be useful to collect an adequate amount of money to replenish the stocks intended for the most needy.

The 'San Martino' RSA in Torre di Mosto can accommodate elderly people with varying degrees of self-sufficiency. It is managed by Sereni Orizzonti, one of the first three groups nationwide operating in the construction and management of assisted living facilities, with about 80 RSAs and more than 5,000 beds in Italy and abroad.
