ART IN THE CARE PROCESS: AVIS, ANTEAS AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARCON DONATE AN OMNISENSORY PAINTING TO THE 'SAN GIORGIO' HOSPICE

Following the presentation of the 'Musica Maestra' project, devised by the team of the 'San Giorgio' residence for the elderly in Marcon, work on the importance of music   as a tool to recall past memories and emotions was rewarded: the facility received a donation from the Marcon community of an omni-sensory painting, made by Picta Olens.

The work has a therapy function guided by the 5 senses - sight, touch, smell, hearing and taste, with the flavour of candies. The AVIS of Marcon, which, in collaboration with ANTEAS, organised the 'Art in the Care Process' initiative, wanted to raise awareness of the issue of Alzheimer's and the role of art therapy as a communicative vehicle with the person with dementia.

"Art and care are a combination with important benefits. Art is able to stimulate the personal identity of each individual, enhancing the residual abilities of guests suffering from psycho-cognitive deficits. I would like to thank the president of AVIS Antonio Dell'Anna, the vice-president of AVIS of Marcon Anna Dalla Tor, the project referent, the Anteas Association and its president Rita Gasparetto, Silvia Lorenzetto of Picta Olens, the mayor Matteo Romanello, and the entire community of Marcon for this important gift that brings added value to our facility and will enable the new projects for the guests" - said the director of the residence Danijela Filkovska.

"The idea that residences for the elderly are closed places is an outdated concept. The RSA in Marcon is one of the most active residences in the area, in continuous collaboration with local authorities and schools, cultural and voluntary associations," added Sereni Orizzonti's general manager, Mario Modolo. "These occasions give our professionals, psychologists and educators, the opportunity to publicise the special projects and new activities that involve all guests, self-sufficient and not, also thanks to art as therapy".
