ART ENTERS THE 'PESCARITO' HOSPICE IN SAN MAURO TORINESE: 'A COMBINATION OF CARE AND CULTURE'.

In the RSA 'Pescarito' in San Mauro Torinese, a rather special exhibition of paintings was held, paying tribute to an artist present in the facility and encouraging others present to appreciate art.

The facility for the elderly in Corso Lombardia, which belongs to the Sereni Orizzonti group, has in fact decided to include in its calendar a project aimed at reactivating the interests and pleasures of its elderly guests, while at the same time offering an opportunity for an artist guest of the facility to show her own creations.

The painter's name is Daniela Gastaldi, she is 69 years old and has been a guest at the San Mauro facility since 2021. She created the paintings between 1999 and 2000, together with her husband; others were created during the painting workshop. "When our educator proposed the painting workshop, the paintings I had painted with my husband came to mind," she says. "I proposed to the facility if I could exhibit them, adding the ones I was completing here. The technique I often use is oil on canvas or wood. I like to call my paintings 'Faux d'auteur' because in each of them there is the slightest detail that is different from the original".

"Art can be counted among those that are defined as non-pharmacological therapies," says Radu Alexa, director of the facility. "Thanks to the presence of Mrs Daniela, we were able to realise this project, which creates a combination of cure and culture, through the knowledge of this profound relationship. We are happy that Mrs Daniela exhibited her paintings and that the other guests participated in the painting workshop together with her".
