From 6 June to 12 June, Carmagnola's RSA 'Il Faggio' will host the travelling exhibition of sun, art and colours 'La bella estate', organised together with Carmagnola's Laboratorio Gourmet. The facility for the elderly in Via Francesco di Sales, which belongs to the Sereni Orizzonti group, has in fact decided to include in its calendar a project aimed at reactivating the interests and pleasures of its elderly guests, while at the same time offering artists the opportunity to show their creations.

Before suffering the effects of Alzheimer's or dementia, elderly people in a nursing home could be fond of art, go to concerts, love ballet. "Art can be counted among what are defined as non-pharmacological therapies, which aim to keep active or rediscover the person's pleasures," says Giovanni Marte, director of the facility. "This is why we are happy to welcome the exhibition in our facility: our guests will be very excited and being surrounded by art is definitely the best way to start the summer. 

The paintings are the works of fifteen local artists. They will be exhibited for a week within the facility, and the exhibition will be open to guests and their relatives at all times. The artists will prepare their works during the first day of the exhibition, remaining available for a discussion on the artistic and conceptual aspects of their works. Afterwards, some of the elderly will in turn create a painting to be exhibited alongside the others, with the aim of making them even more involved.

"For a couple of years, the association has been organising exhibitions of paintings in the town's premises: this is the second edition and it is an occasion that brings a bit of everyone together, but unfortunately a part of the town has always remained outside. I'm talking about the guests of the old people's homes,' declares Rinuccia Garvagno, representative of the Laboratorio Gourmet group of Carmagnola. 'That's why we decided to anticipate, going to them. We hope to do something pleasing, especially with the shared canvases that will see the elderly guests directly participating in the initiative. In addition to the exhibition in the facilities, an aperitif will also follow in the town's venues'.
