THE LITTLE DOG GINA AND BISIAN COSTUMES, JOY FOR THE ELDERLY AT THE RISANO NURSING HOME

An afternoon of festivities, colours and traditions delighted the guests of the Giacinto Blasoni' nursing home in Risanorun by Sereni Orizzonti. Protagonist of the initiative is the group Byzantine costumes of Turriacowhich brought the solidarity volunteering project "VariousEtá 2024"recognised as being of particular importance by the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region.

The association's volunteers, led by president Caterina Chittaro, visited the elderly guests wearing the characteristic traditional Byzantine clothing, living testimony of a cultural heritage rooted in the history of the Isonzo area. The group enlivened the afternoon with a repertoire of traditional local songs and dances, actively involving the elderly residents in a moment of intergenerational sharing. Entertainment activities with the group in the facility are held monthly.

Making the meeting even more special was the presence of the dog Gina, the group's mascot, which aroused great enthusiasm among the guests, many of whom were able to relive the pleasure of contact with a pet. "Our aim is to maintain living the link with local traditions and, at the same time, creating moments of joy and sharing with those who, like the elderly in the RSAs, particularly benefit from these encounters," said Caterina Chittaro. "The 'VariEtá' project stems precisely from the realisation that the encounter between different generations enriches all participants".
