The SIDEP professional school for beauticians in Alessandria and the RSA Sereni Orizzonti in Spinetta Marengo, through the Municipality of Alessandria's 'Diamoci una mano' programme, organised a number of collaborative afternoons in which the future beauticians pampered and spoiled the facility's female guests, giving them manicures and other beauty treatments.
It is a programme dedicated to the inclusion of people with disabilities in cooperation with the office of the disability manager of the Municipality of Alexandria, through theoretical and practical lessons among girls and ladies in wheelchairs, with Parkinson's or any other disability. "Because beauty is love and care for oneself" - says their motto - "and has no barriers". During the afternoons, the future beauticians pampered the ladies, reproducing the entire process of welcoming, treating and caring for the client's well-being.
"The smiles on the faces of our guests repays us for our constant commitment," says Tosca Vendramin, the facility's director. "The activities we proposed were pleasantly received by our guests, who in fact proved to be more than ever involved and participating. Heartfelt thanks go to Stefania Baiolini, owner of the SIDEP professional school for beauticians in Alessandria, and to the girls who take care of the guests with love and great professionalism".
"With the students, we addressed the issue of disability, analysed the problems, and taught them how to deal with this type of clientele," says Stefania Baiolini, owner of the professional school. "The manicure day organised in the facility was very much appreciated and, above all, very instructive for our girls, both from a professional and a human point of view. Our school has been active in Alexandria for 24 years: over that time we have trained over 700 beauticians. Our courses last three years, at the end of which the girls are also qualified to open their own business'.
The "Gigi e Teresio Capra" facility in Spinetta Marengo can accommodate non-self-sufficient elderly people. It is managed by Sereni Orizzonti, one of the first three groups nationwide operating in the construction and management of assisted living facilities, with about 80 RSAs and more than 5,000 beds in Italy and abroad.
