SERENI ORIZZONTI RESIDENCE FOR THE ELDERLY IN VILLACIDRO ON THE HOME STRETCH

After the completion of the construction of the RSA in the municipality of Villacidro by 'Sereni Orizzonti' - the Friulian group leader in Italy in the construction and management of residences for the elderly, with 80 RSAs and 5600 beds in Italy and abroad - as of yesterday, the Enel connection is also officially operational, which will immediately be followed by all the preparatory works for the opening of the facility.

Built on the basis of project financing promoted by theSanluri ATS, the Villacidro facility is the only residence for the elderly to be established within the local social health authority.

"After the connection of the electricity," states Valentino Bortolussi, Head of Real Estate Development - "we trust in a swift continuation of the last procedures aimed at openingtechnical inspections, certifications and requests for fitness for use. The territory is particularly in need of this service. In the Sanluri area, the demand for the third age is very high, but the supply of beds in the RSA is insufficient. The new residence will be a fundamental tool to help the elderly who need assistance and who, to date, find it difficult to access the service'.

The building in Villacidro - designed by engineer Ernesto Ambrosio and contracted to Frappa Srl - consists of a two-storey structure above ground (very large and helix-shaped) and is surrounded by a vast park equipped with trees and planted with native species, which can be fully explored on foot or with wheelchairs and walkers. A large car park is available for visiting guests' families. It can accommodate 84 dependent elderly in spacious and bright single and double rooms, each with its own bathroom for the disabled, comfortably furnished and equipped with motorised beds, shutters with domotic blinds, call system and fire sensors. The facility includes reception and administrative offices, a rehabilitation gymnasium, an outpatient clinic, a room for personal services (podiatrist and hairdresser), a communal kitchen and dining rooms, a living room with large windows for socialising, a worship room and guest toilets.

Like all of Sereni Orizzonti's other recent constructions in the rest of Italy, this building will have state-of-the-art features regarding theeco-sustainability and the energy saving. Built in energy class A3, it will autonomously produce around 165,000 kWh of energy, which corresponds to more than 60% of the entire demand, reducing the emission of more than 69 tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere per year.
