THE BENEFITS OF PET THERAPY: THE 'CANI PER CASO' ASSOCIATION VISITS THE 'SAN GIORGIO' HOSPICE IN MARCON

A meeting under the banner of physical and mental wellbeing: the 'San Giorgio' RSA received a visit from dog trainers from the 'Cani per Caso' Association, active throughout the province of Venice. The undisputed protagonists of the afternoon were a husky and a poodle, trained, docile and affectionate dogs, who let themselves be caressed and held by the guests, bringing many smiles.

"Man's best friends offered our guests happiness and wellbeing, stealing a few smiles and boosting their self-esteem. Pet Therapy is part of the sensory activity and physical rehabilitation projects that our residence offers to all the elderly," said facility director Danijela Filkovska. "I sincerely thank the 'Cani per Caso' Association for giving our guests this special afternoon.

"Animal Assisted Activity is now widespread in all our residences for the elderly. It is one of the most loved activities by the residents, it reduces their stress and anxiety" - adds Sereni Orizzonti's general director, Mario Modolo - 'Including this type of activity in the educational programmes of our RSAs means putting the wellbeing of the individual at the centre, promoting an improvement in the quality of life thanks to its recreational and socialising purposes'.
