An important meeting between the children of the 'Bigatti' kindergarten and the guests of the Multipurpose Centre for the Elderly in Cusano Milanino, run by Sereni Orizzonti, ended yesterday.
The project is called 'Shared Smile', and is aimed at giving the youngest children a practical experience of the relationship with the adult generation, through a mutual exchange of gifts. The event took place on the morning of 18 April in the outdoor areas of the facility. The children, initially gathered in small groups according to age, listened to the guests' stories and dedicated songs and dances to them. Afterwards, after a snack of fruit and juices, there was an exchange of gifts between the elderly and the children: nice self-portraits that the children prepared for the older ones as a sign of their affection.
'A useful exchange for the children, from which our guests also came out enriched,' says Federica Cuscona, director of the facility. 'We are very happy to have realised this project. Often the real wealth lies in stories, in life stories. Our guests are an inexhaustible source of anecdotes: very often it is these that remain impressed on the very young, enabling them to learn about the past and many fragments of our history. On the other hand, the presence of so many children brought a lot of joy to our guests, an important diversion".
The project carried out with the children of the 'Bigatti' kindergarten is part of a busy calendar of initiatives that the residence has been organising for a long time, paying particular attention to relations with the local area.
