The summer air favoured the complete success of the barbecue held at the St. Joseph's Residence for the Elderly of Follina (Tv), managed by the Sereni Orizzonti group. The party was organised by the education service together with the volunteer group 'Friends of Grandparents' and was accompanied by cheerful music and summer dances.
"These moments generate emotional and psychological benefits not only for the guests, but for all those who take part in them," says Gianmarco Comazzetto, director of the facility. "Our guests also felt this atmosphere and it was for them like going back a few years. Immediately after the day spent together, it was clear how beneficial these moments are for the elderly: even if they are used to staying in the facility, the usual places look very different and special for a few hours".
"In recent years, caring for the elderly is a job that is changing a lot," says Mario Modolo, General Manager of Sereni Orizzonti. "The idea that the elderly should only be cared for in their primary functions is an outdated concept: that is only part of the tasks of an RSA, which is also responsible for rediscovering the person, their interests and pleasures.
