In the RSA "Villa Alfieri" of Calice Ligure and "Humanitas" of Borghetto Santo Spirito, managed by Sereni Orizzonti, for 27 January 2023, Remembrance Day, the elderly guests of the facility will take part in a creative workshop, aimed at honouring the meaning of the day.
On this occasion the guests, especially the somewhat older ones, will have the opportunity to recall and recount what they remember of the war years. Then, after reading fragments of Anne Frank's Diary, the elderly will make bookmarks containing a very famous sentence from the book: 'what happened cannot be erased, but it can be prevented from happening again'. The bookmarks will then be given to the relatives of the guests, especially the grandchildren.
"The Holocaust Memorial Day represents an important moment", says Stefano Spinelli, director of the Borghetto Santo Spirito facility, "A day whose meaning we wanted to honour, since every day we assist elderly people, some of whom still have very vivid memories of the war years. A sense of duty, which is twofold: to revive the memory for those who were already born in those years, and to acquaint the younger generations with an important part of our history".
The facilities 'Villa Alfieri' in Calice Ligure and 'Humanitas' in Borghetto Santo Spirito are managed by Sereni Orizzonti, one of the first three groups at national level operating in the construction and management of assisted living facilities, with about 80 RSAs and more than 5,000 beds in Italy and abroad.
