PARTY AND MUSIC AT THE 'VILLA I PITTI' RETIREMENT HOME IN SIGNA: SENIORS' CARNIVAL

At the senior citizens' residence 'Villa I Pitti' in Signa (Fi), the Carnival period had a slightly sweeter flavour. During the festive period, the elderly celebrated cheerfully, and among the most spectacular events was the performance by the Salsarika dance group from Porto di Mezzo, which presented three Caribbean dance shows. The first performance was a Salsa dance in pairs, the second a Can Can Salsero, and the third a Latin Assol performance inspired by the film 'The Godfather'.

The performances, with the corresponding changes of stage clothes, took place in the various halls of the building, outlining a true musical journey. The rooms, festively decorated, welcomed the various performances, which were carefully prepared down to the last detail by the young artists. The guests thus had the opportunity to be in good company, listening to cheerful music and reactivating a number of important functions.

"There was a lot of interest in the dance school's performances," says Iacopo Giglioli, the facility's director, "The guests expressed their wish to host such events more often. We would like to emphasise that the dance school performed on a voluntary basis. We are grateful to those who dedicate part of their free time to visit those who need it most. In the old people's home, there is often the risk that the days become monotonous. Thanks to these events, our residents can enjoy experiences outside the usual routine and this has incredible benefits for their physical and mental health".

In Signa, the event is part of a busy calendar that the residence has been organising for a long time. In particular, numerous workshops and themed activities were organised during the Carnival period, aimed at training the cognitive and manual skills of the elderly. Thanks to the constant commitment of the operators and educators, the residence's rooms are pervaded by a welcoming scent of home.
