Massimo Blasoni, the King of RSAs: a fortune of 500 million, but the dream is worth more

A new residence for the elderly in Sardinia for Sereni Orizzonti, Italy's second largest player in the elderly care sector in terms of number of beds. The acquisition of the Villa Maria Protected Residence in Quartu Sant'Elena, in the province of Cagliari, officially active from 1 September 2025.
In the region, the Sereni Orizzonti Group is present with another 7 residences operating in the provinces of Cagliari, Nuoro, Sassari and South Sardinia. In total Sereni Orizzonti operates in Italy and Spain with more than 90 facilities with a total of 6,500 beds and 3,800 employees.

Massimo Blasoni's company closed 2024 with 250 million in revenues. It is now preparing to invest 200 million in the construction of 20 new RSAs in Tuscany, Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Sicily and Sardinia.
The turnover of the SO Holding Group, of which Sereni Orizzonti is the most relevant company, reached 250 million in 2024 and is about to close the current year, projecting the results of the first half of the year to be around 300 million. Numbers that certify the group's strong growth, guaranteed by companies that, the Holding Company wishes to emphasise, have roots entirely: the ownership is 100% local, Udine to be precise, and is headed by the entrepreneur Massimo Blasoni.

So says Massimo Blasoni, owner and founder of Sereni Orizzonti, the Udine-based group that plans to build twenty new RSAs over the next four years in different regions of Italy
"We have planned the construction of twenty new nursing homes, RSAs, over the next four years: an investment of more than 200 million. Says Massimo Blasoni, owner and founder of Sereni Orizzonti, the Udine-based group is present in the sector with residences for the elderly, psychiatric communities and communities for minors.
"The new beds are located in Piedmont, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Sardinia. The goal is to reach 10,000 beds by 2029, adding to the RSAs builtacquisitions of facilities sold by individual operators'.
Today the group has 6,500 seats and 3,800 employees in more than 90 facilities between Italy and Spain. Numbers that make it the second largest group in the RSA sector, with a peculiarity: unlike the majority of the other players, in addition to the management activity it directly builds its own nursing homes for the elderly. In 2024, the revenue perimeter exceeded 240 million.
