Art for well-being: this is the concept behind the Art Therapy residency programme in Palermo.
Some of the guests of the Alzheimer module visited the rich halls of the Modern Art Gallery in Palermo. The aim was to provide through pictorial art and sculptures a cognitive, emotional and relational stimulus, relying on the imagination and not on memory, on imagination and emotions and not on logical thinking.
"Art and care is a combination with important benefits. Art is able to stimulate the personal identity of each individual, enhancing the residual capacities of guests suffering from psycho-cognitive deficits. Our guests had so much fun observing the museum's collections, learning about the stories of Sicilian painters from all eras," said the residence team.
