On the occasion of International Women's Day, Friday 8 March, the guests and operators of the Cra 'Istituto Longobucco' in Calendasco celebrated, together with relatives, by handing out mimosa bouquets to each woman, as is the custom.
A special anniversary filled everyone present with joy: the birthday of one guest in particular, the newly-centenarian Luisa Canesi, born on 7 March 1924 in Piacenza. Luisa is a very polite lady, humble and kind to everyone; she lived through the Second World War and even in the most difficult moments of her life she knew how to be courteous and selfless. She worked at the Arsenal in Piacenza. She has two children and many grandchildren.
Also present at the celebration were the mayor of the municipality of Calendasco, Francesco Zangrandi, and relatives of Mrs Luisa.
The residence was filled with streamers and balloons, a cake and a beautiful bouquet of flowers for the birthday girl, delivered by all the staff.
"We are proud of those who, like Mrs. Luisa, in 100 years have contributed to building our identity, our values and our local history," said Emilia Tramelli, head of the Piacenza residences. "We thank the mayor of Calendasco for celebrating this special occasion with us. I would also like to thank the staff of the facility and the entertainer Silvia, who for years has been organising important moments of conviviality for our guests".
